Michael Phelps Swimmer – Astonishing 4th Gold Medal Performance Breaks All Olympic Records

Michael Phelps swimmer has been declared the Gold Medal champion of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

There are just no words to describe Michael Phelps performance at the Water Cube in Beijing recently.

He set a world record of 1:42.96 in the 200m freestyle. That’s an amazing second faster than Ian Thorpe’s peak performance.

This gave Phelps his 3rd gold medal in Beijing and became his 9th overall football figures. He also had won 6 gold medals at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.

Phelps is not the type of guy to sit around enjoying his hard won medal, no sir; he was immediately off to his next race: the semi-final of the 200m butterfly.

But wait there’s more:

The 4th Gold Medal came in the 200m butterfly, his best event yet it was the most difficult race for him to-date.

The 200m butterfly is Phelps strongest event, but this was not his most decisive win or performance.

Michael Phelps has now cemented his position in the annals of Olympic and sports history with his 4th Gold Medal. He also set his 4th world record of 1 min 52:03sec – six hundredths just inside the record he set when smashing the world title 18 months ago in Melbourne, Australia.

With this, his latest victory he has broken a tie with Mark Spitz, Carl Lewis and two others for most Olympic Gold Medals.

This brings his total medal count to 11.

Phelps still has 3 events left and is on pace smash Mark Spitz’s record of 7 gold medals in 1 Olympiad. Just after winning his heat in the 200m individual medley, Phelps stated that he is not unbeatable. “It’s not over yet. Anything can happen in the next three events,” He voiced. “This is something we have been preparing for for the last 4 years. All the work is starting to pay off. But I am not unbeatable. Everyone can be beaten.”

His current gold medal rankings: 4-for-4 and setting world records in each of the events. Certainly this 23 year old man has earned the distinction of being a true Olympic Champion!
